The Cyclynn Manifesto
We believe the following actions are essential for increasing cycle use in King's Lynn, which is needed to free the town from poor air quality, poor health and traffic congestion:
- A town-wide complete network of direct cycleways including on- and off-road sections clearly signposted with next and final route destinations - key challenges are connecting Chapel Street, the stations loop and Bridge Street;
- On-bike access from cycleways to all bike parking;
- Unobstructed cycleways: no gates, no cobbles, no loose gravel finishes, no high kerbs;
- Cycleways with priority when crossing side roads and totally flat kerbs, including a small cycle-access section without "slippery nipple" tiles;
- No "CYCLISTS DISMOUNT" or "END OF ROUTE" signs, especially when routes join roads rather than ending - if it requires a dismount, it is not a cycle route;
