Scheme Weekly News for 2002-06-24
This is a round-up of news and announcements related to the Scheme programming language, mostly taken from newsgroups, mailing lists and web sites that I'm aware of. The aim is to publish in multiple formats on the web each week, but more on that later.
A new version of MIT Scheme has been released on 17 June, just too late for last week's SWN. This is a bugfix release, squashing ones in IMAIL, Windows sockets and the debugger. If you're using 7.7, it's probably worth an upgrade.
A new release of the Gauche Scheme environment was uploaded on 14 June, adding more character set support (internal, not iconv), SRFI-27 and some bugfixes.
A new version of this LALR(1) parser generator for Scheme has been released. New features include ports for SISC and Chicken, precedence levels and associativity.
The guile-using TeX editor has had a new release, with changes to the user interface, preferences and better font handling.
SRFI 26 "Notation for Specializing Parameters without Currying" has gone into the Final state. This means that the discussion period is over and implementors are requested to package it for the various Scheme environments.
The people at the Schematics project have released a cookbook for PLT Scheme and a guide to Schematics itself.
