Scheme Weekly News for 2002-07-22
This is a round-up of news and announcements related to the Scheme programming language, mostly taken from newsgroups, mailing lists and web sites that I'm aware of. The aim is to publish in multiple formats on the web each week, but more on that later.
SRFIs 32 (sorting) and 33 (bit operations)
New SRFI drafts have been released. Number 32 covers sorting lists and vectors, and 33 is for bit operations on integers. Users and especially implementors are invited to join the discussions.
Some work has been done on benchmarking Guile and a benchmarking framework for R5RS schemes is mentioned.
Firebird/Interbase driver for PLT Scheme
Noel Welsh uploaded this new database driver to Schematics. It is loosely based on Oleg's db-util.scm
Bruce Butterfield uploaded this new Adobe Portable Document Format library to Schematics. It is a port of Marc Battyani's cl-pdf from Common Lisp.
Neil Van Dyke released a new Emacs Lisp package to make it nicer to work with Scheme and invited comments on it.
People interested in beta-testing this release are invited to email this address.
SWN will not be sent out next week due to a holiday here. The next edition will cover two weeks.
