Scheme Weekly News for 2002-11-18

This is a round-up of news and announcements related to the Scheme programming language, mostly taken from newsgroups, mailing lists and web sites that I'm aware of. Feel free to send me more. The aim is to publish in multiple formats on the web each week, but more on that very soon.

TeXmacs 1.0.0.22

GNU TeXmacs is a scientific document processor inspired by TeX and Emacs. This version improves language support for German and Finnish and fixes some problems with g++ 3.2 and guile 1.6 support.

snd 6.3

snd is a sound editing program with support for Guile scheme. This release cleans up GTK support, adds more scheme code and improves Ruby support. See the mailing list announcement for more details.

Gauche 0.6.5

Gauche is a Scheme implementation designed to be useful for system scripting and general work, with good multilingual support. This release fixes some FreeBSD compilation problems and adds new modules, including HTTP. Gauche-gtk is also updated.

SISC 1.6.3 Released

SISC is an extensible heap-based interpreter of Scheme running on the Java VM, with an aggressively optimized, lightweight (<100k) Scheme engine. This release adds many bug fixes and now supports SRFIs 19, 25, 26, 28, 29 and 30, amongst other things.

More Guile manuals online

The Guile maintainers have linked in more of the 1.6.x Guile manuals, including the reference manual. Now you can browse it even without the Guile documentation installed locally.

GUMM Ideas Page

GUMM is a project to encourage sharing of Guile modules. They now have an ideas page which is open for suggestions.

Impressions of the ILC

Oleg Kiselyov has kindly put the notes from his visit to the International Lisp Conference online. Interesting reading!
