Scheme Weekly News for 2003-02-25

This is a round-up of news and announcements related to the Scheme programming language, mostly taken from newsgroups, mailing lists and web sites that I'm aware of. Feel free to send me more. The aim is to publish in multiple formats on the web each week, but more on that very soon.

Siag Office 3.5.6

Siag Office is an office software package that started off with Scheme In A Grid, built on top of SIOD, but now capable of accepting inputs in Guile and other languages. This release tidies keybindings and adds a dutch translation.

GNU TeXmacs 1.0.1.5

GNU TeXmacs is a scientific document editor, inspired by Emacs and LaTeX, but based on Guile Scheme. This release reorganises the plugins into directories.

STklos 0.54

STklos is a Scheme system nearly conforming to R5RS, but designed to be both fast and light. It is implemented on a virtual machine system. This release adds 3 more SRFIs (23, 30, 31), updates the GC and ports to gcc-3.x, Solaris, Win32, MacOS X.

HtmlPrag 0.4

HtmlPrag provides permissive HTML parsing capability to Scheme programs, intended to cope with real-world buggy non-compliant pages. It emits SXML, which can be processed with the ssax-sxml tools and others. It works on many Scheme implementations.

Gauche-gl 0.2.2 and Gauche-gtk 0.3

These are interfaces to the openGL and gtk2 libraries for Gauche scheme, respectively. The gl module adds new procedures, the gears demo and fixes a CPU-hog bug. The gtk module improves the class interface, memory management, gdklib initialisation, and supports gtk 2.2, gtkglext 0.7.

Swindle 20030217

Swindle is a collection of modules that extend PLT Scheme with additional features, including a CLOS-like module system.
